Aviation Heritage Park – Bowling Green, KY

You don’t have to know anything about planes or jets to appreciate the local heroes who have served our country. Each of these aircraft has a story to tell.

When you first arrive, you can tune your radio to the correct posted channel and hear an automated guide tell you the story of each of the five aircraft, their pilot and the background of each pilot.

We sat in our van and listened to the entire guide while we finished a picnic lunch before walking over to each of the planes.

Even if you know nothing about these planes or their roles in the different conflicts, you can quickly appreciate the power and impact made by these pilots who served our country.

Aviation Heritage Park is a must-see addition to the list of aviation museums. Rather than a graveyard of old airplanes, the artifacts on exhibit live to tell the stories of regional heroes. See aircraft telling the stories of Vietnam War aviators, a T-38 trainer flown by every Mercury, Gemini and Apollo astronaut, and a Cub honoring an African American woman who trained the Tuskegee Airmen. Visitors are encouraged to see and touch the aircraft while allowing their imagination to soar. AHP is free and open to the public from 8 am until dusk every day.
