Paradise Point, Scottsville, KY

Some days are meant for exploring. You have wide-open schedules, blue skies, and sunshine. But there are other days when you have to sneak in adventure. This weekend was not the sort of weather where we typically plan a road trip. We have been dodging ice, freezing rain, and temperatures in the low 30s. But that didn’t keep us from taking a quick drive over to Scottsville, KY, and exploring the Barren River Lake area and Paradise Point.

Paradise Point: Scottsville, KY

Paradise Point is the kind of place we have stopped at all over the US. As you drive past, you just know you have to make a quick u-turn and spend some time exploring. The eclectic mix of old cars and trucks with the artsy vibe and painted murals out front just pull you in off 31-E and remind you that it’s time to take a break.

There are many fun signs and murals all around the shop. Whether you’re looking for a photo opp with the famous hotdog or just need a reminder to be nice, you know you’re in for some fun finds at Paradise Point.

The shop itself is a solid mix of local art from the shop owner and little bits of this and that. While we were there, we took some time to chat with the owner who shared some stories about the history of the shop and his own art for sale.

You can buy just about anything you need. The shop truly does live up to the goal of being the Ultra Hip Oasis for Lakeside Shopping and Good Eats! Take your time browsing the store to look for the perfect treasure!

We definitely plan to come back in season when the outdoor dining areas and ice cream truck are open. We want to browse the outdoor shops and enjoy the summer lake vibe that we got a hint of on this winter visit.

The last thing we saw as we were pulling out of the parking lot was the newest mural reminding each visitor that we should never procastinate JOY! That ties in perfectly to my phrase for the year to always Choose Joy!

Have you ever visited Paradise Point? Is this the kind of place that you love to stop?
