Why I Love Kentucky
I was born in Missouri, lived in Tennessee for several years…but I am a Kentucky girl through and through. There are many reasons why I love Kentucky: I love the bluegrass state with the rolling hills, beautiful horse farms and changing seasons. I have toured the KY capitol building, taken pictures at Cumberland Falls, eaten at the very first Kentucky Fried Chicken driven through the Elk and Bison Prairie at Land Between the Lakes and seen the UK Wildcats play in Rupp Arena,. Kentucky offers so many amazing sights and outdoor things to enjoy.
Why I Love Kentucky
Within the state of Kentucky you can drive just a few hours and be in the mountains, flat farmlands or rolling hills.
Our family takes regular day trips anytime we get a few free hours. I love being able to be out in nature or exploring with our family here in the Bluegrass state.
Historical Connections
Kentucky has historical connections and landmarks scattered all over the state. Whether you are interested in the Civil War, President Lincoln or Daniel Boone – you can find the brown travel signs all over our state!
Oh did I mention, that 3 of the 4 top voted best small towns in the US are in Kentucky? Bardstown, Danville and Murray!

What’s your favorite state? Do you love Kentucky as much as I do? Where have you explored that I might have missed? I’d love to hear from you!
I would love it too. Been a Fl. girl all my life and would love to move just for the change of scenery and Kentucky would be first on my list. Unfortunately my husbands job only has positions for him in Ohio which is not high on my list, lol.
I think I would love it also, looks beautiful and you get a spring, something we lack every year it seems in the Northeast! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome photos! Is it sad that I don’t think I’ve been to Kentucky – unless you count crossing the bridge in Cincinnati? Until I moved to the Midwest I never thought about visiting but now it’s high on my list! I never even realized there were 4 seasons there!
My favorite state is Arizona because there are amazing deserts, snow in the higher elevations, mountains everywhere and a billion things to do. It is where I grew up and although I have lived in Chicago for the past 9 years, AZ is my true home!! Kentucky looks beautiful in the posts I have read on your blog. Lots of gorgeous nature to see.
Kentucky has been beautiful the two times I’ve driven through it. Interestingly, Danville is one of the random cities my husband and I were looking at on craigslist the other night just to see how much it costs to live there. Really excited for this series and to see what people love about where they live.
We hope to make it to Kentucky to see the derby one day~
Great list of free things to do! Thanks for sharing, sounds like you had a great time!
