Where to Eat Lake Erie - Smugglers Wharf

Where to Eat in Lake Erie

We had the opportunity to visit Erie, Pennsylvania as part of our Epic Road Trip recently. One of the most beautiful places in the United States is Lake Erie, so we knew that we wanted to include the city of Erie in our “50 Things All Students Need to Experience before they Graduate series“. While we were in the area we enjoyed a local restaurant with fresh seafood at Smugglers Wharf.

The atmosphere is perfect for families whether you choose to eat inside or sit right on the dock of the bay and feel the breeze from the water. You know the classic song “Sittin’ on the dock of the bay…”? Yep! Smugglers Wharf is exactly that! You’re right on the bay!

You’re welcome to sit inside and enjoy the restaurant, but for our family, we were much more interested in being outside where we could hear the sea gulls and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere.

After dinner, we took some time to walk out on Dobbins Landing. You can get a great view of the Presque Isle Bay and even climb the observation tower if you want a better view.

Along the pier there are fishing boats that are available for charter tours or you can just enjoy watching them as you wrap up your dinner experience.
