When you visit a new area there are some basic questions that you must get answered. You need to know where to stay, where to eat and what to do. Plus, it’s always helpful if you have a few backup ideas for fun things to experience. Today I’m sharing our favorite restaurant on Lake Erie, Pennsylvania.

Where to Eat in Lake Erie
We had the opportunity to visit Erie, Pennsylvania as part of our Epic Road Trip recently. One of the most beautiful places in the United States is Lake Erie, so we knew that we wanted to include the city of Erie in our “50 Things All Students Need to Experience before they Graduate series“. While we were in the area we enjoyed a local restaurant with fresh seafood at Smugglers Wharf.
The atmosphere is perfect for families whether you choose to eat inside or sit right on the dock of the bay and feel the breeze from the water. You know the classic song “Sittin’ on the dock of the bay…”? Yep! Smugglers Wharf is exactly that! You’re right on the bay!
After dinner, we took some time to walk out on Dobbins Landing. You can get a great view of the Presque Isle Bay and even climb the observation tower if you want a better view.

Dobbins Landing is pier that extends past the end of State Street and is popular to many tourists. Open 24 hours, visitors can fish from the pier or climb the tower to catch fantastic views of the sunrise over the bay
Along the pier there are fishing boats that are available for charter tours or you can just enjoy watching them as you wrap up your dinner experience.
Have you ever visited Lake Erie? Have you eaten here at Smugglers Wharf?
