Where to Stay in Springfield Massachusetts
Deciding where to stay when you are in a new city is an important decision. It can be tricky to find a hotel that will meet the needs of your family as well as offer access to the local museums, restaurants and attractions. On our recent visit to Springfield, Massachusetts we had the opportunity to stay at the Springfield Sheraton.

Where to stay in Springfield Massachusetts
The city of Springfield is a great place to walk and enjoy the various museums, attractions and places of local historical significance. We stayed at the Sheraton which is located right downtown with easy access to the Springfield Museums, Springfield Armory and Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
Since we had never been to Springfield, we didn’t know where we were going to eat supper. But the best tip we have discovered about new cities, is that the hotel staff is a great resource. When we check in, we ask the staff to recommend several restaurants. They gave us several suggestions but at the top of their list was a local BBQ place called Theodores.
Theodores offers a great selection of BBQ with a fun blues atmosphere. The servers were friendly and helped us make our menu selections. Though there is a bar, Theodores was family friendly and a great experience for the whole family.
Getting around Springfield
The Sheraton is located right near the Convention Center, about a 30-minute walk to everything we were interested in touring. We started the morning by walking up to the Springfield Armory and then came back to the Springfield Museums and Dr Seuss Memorial Sculpture Garden.
We then came back to the hotel and drove over to the Basketball Hall of Fame.
There are sidewalks that make navigating the city on foot an easy adventure.
About the Sheraton
The Sheraton offers a full experience. Parking is easily accessible in a lower level parking garage. You can get your parking ticket validated when you check in for easy in and out access.
There is a pool and full fitness center on the 4th floor with an attendant ready to check you in.
Since our kids have gotten older and much taller, we need more room to stretch out and sleep. We had adjoining rooms that allowed all of us the space to relax and unwind after our full day of exploring.
They even welcomed us with snacks for the family!
The Picks
The Sheraton has an onsite restaurant called the Picks that offers a full menu for lunch and dinner. We enjoyed a full, hot breakfast before beginning our walking tour of the city. Even though our days on a road trip adventure like this are packed tight with things to see and experience, we know that taking time to start the day with a hot breakfast is important.
Have you been to Springfield, Massachusetts? What’s your favorite part of this super fun city? I’d love to hear!
