I love exploring new towns and places, and especially ones with big character like Brattleboro, Vermont. My daughter had a gymnastics meet this weekend in Brattleboro, a small town in Vermont just over the border from Massachusetts. After the meet we decided to go downtown and check things out. It was such a small, quaint mountain mill town.

This town looks very cute. I agree--small town America doesn't usually make the itineraries, but there are so many treasures out there just waiting to be discovered. Brattleboro looks like it's worth a visit.

I had never heard of this town before and then my sister started telling me about it just yesterday! How timely! These small towns aren't high on any list of must-sees but they are so quintessential New England that it's worth a half day or so to explore!
