If you love Kentucky Fried Chicken, and you are traveling on I75 between Lexington and Knoxville, you need to stop for your next meal at the original, very first KFC! We have stopped at the Colonel Sanders Museum and Cafe several times while out exploring Kentucky. The food has always been hot and fresh and the atmosphere is just unique. How many places can you eat your food from a modern restaurant while enjoy the feel of an authentic 1950’s kitchen?
The Worlds First Kentucky Fried Chicken is located in Corbin, KY. You can sit beside a life size Colonel Sanders, take a look at the first kitchen and view several display cases with Colonel Sanders memorabilia. I loved the atmosphere. You are actually eating in the original dining room.
Every time we have been there, we have been amazed at the ethnic diversity of the diners. I guess people all over the world know and love KFC, so it just makes sense that this would be a widely visited spot.
From I-75 take exit 25, go north on Cumberland Falls Hwy (US 25W) for approximately 2 miles, then turn left onto Main Street.
From Main Street, turn left on US 25, at the overpass. Follow 25 roughly one mile. Sanders Cafe will be on the left.
The prices are the same as any KFC, but it’s the atmosphere and decor that make it worth the stop! There is no charge to view the displays and memorabilia.
Have you ever visited the Colonel Sanders Cafe? I’d love to hear your experience!!!
